Polartec® Alpha® was invented for US Special Forces.

They needed a superior thermal fabric for extreme temperature fluctuations. Alpha® Active Insulation provides greater breathability during activity. This air exchange technology creates lasting comfort without having to layer up or down during a mission.

Polartec® Alpha® Active Insulation continuously releases excess body heat before it is generated, preventing sweating and discomfort.

This patented, adaptable quality is made possible by Alpha's high-density fibers bonded to a solid mesh core. And because Polartec® Alpha® is inherently hydrophobic, it resists all moisture and dries incredibly quickly.

• What does Active Insulation mean?

Active Insulation represents Polartec® Alpha®'s ability to seamlessly retain body heat during both high and low aerobic activity.

• What are its main advantages?

Clothing containing such fabric can be used in a much wider range of activities and conditions than clothing made from more traditional fabrics, such as down jackets, which are best suited for static conditions.

The Prime-Series Alpha Jacket uses Polartec® Alpha® to keep you warm on cold days. The soft inner liner quickly wicks away sweat, keeping you warm and dry, and its slim, form-fitting design makes it a great option as an inner layer.

The outer layer fabric is designed to allow your body to breathe better and wick moisture away from the inner layer, keeping you drier than ever.

Any fabric that will allow excess heat and moisture to escape without a phase change, while at the same time keeping rain out.

• What is the measurement of 10,000 mm of water column?

This is the minimum water pressure at which watertightness is maintained. Equivalent to a water pressure of >14 psi.
