Begin your Georgian ski adventure by driving from Tbilisi to Gudauri Ski Resort, ending in a scenic stretch of the famed Georgian Military Highway, a winding road surrounded by craggy peaks. We’ll spend the afternoon skiing in Gudauri, where our experienced guides will lead you to the best conditions and offer professional freeride coaching so you can make the most of your experience on the mountain.
Equipped with warmed-up legs and a lay of the land, we will make the most of this full day to explore all of the great freeride terrain Gudauri has to offer. On clear days, you will be able to see Mt. Kazbek – Georgia’s most iconic 5,000 meter volcano. Finish the day with a well-deserved après ski drink and enjoy Georgia’s world-renowned cuisine for dinner before heading in to relax in the toasty sauna and rest up.
Enjoy one last epic day in the Greater Caucasus Mountains. Get a few more laps in at your favorite spot, or muster up the courage to hit those remaining lines on your bucket list. Between runs, we’ll hit our favorite slopeside hang-out spot to sit by the toasty fire with a warm beverage. After we’ve had our fill, we’ll head back down for one more evening out on the town.
After a few solid days of skiing, it’s time to rest our legs and move on to the next destination – Goderdzi. With the highest snowfall in Georgia thanks to some epic storms coming in from the Black Sea, the Lesser Caucasus Mountains of the Adjara region will become our home for the next three days.
To get there, we’ll leave early from Gudauri on a private 4×4 minibus. It’s a long journey, but in the comfortable car, we can relax and stop as desired. Along the way, we’ll make a worthwhile stop to explore Uplistsikhe, an ancient cave city carved into a cliff face with beautiful views overlooking the river. We’ll then make the final push up to Goderdzi on a dirt road which will likely require transferring from our minibus into a snowcat to reach our cozy guesthouse.
To begin our magical Goderdzi adventure, we’ll ride up the mountain on the back of an open snowcat. As we ride up, we’ll enjoy the crisp mountain air and unhindered views of the rolling mountains extending across the Turkish border. After our driver drops us off, we’ll take laps in old growth pine forest and empty villages studded with rustic wooden huts. Make sure to breathe deeply because on the way down you may wish you had brought a snorkel!
On our second day of cat skiing in Goderdzi, we’ll choose between continuing to lap our favorite area or go hunting for more untracked pow. Whether it’s dumping snow or a bright and sunny day, we’ll enjoy the mystical charm that only remote mountain villages possess. After this last epic day out, you’ll be glad to have the comforts of the guesthouse and the local Adjarian cuisine to warm you up. If there’s remaining energy, we’ll head out for a last night out.
After saying goodbye to our snowglobe home, we’ll drive back to Tbilisi. Along the way, we’ll stop in the Samtskhe-Javakheti region for a Georgian cooking workshop and to enjoy tenili, a rare and delicious cheese that was awarded “cultural heritage status” by UNESCO. Satisfied and full from our own handmade meal, our trip will come to a bittersweet close in Tbilisi. Until next time!
